When 9/11 was first happening WHAT did people initially suspect?

I was only 8 and in 3rd grade at the time but from what I've heard, most people thought the first plane crashing into the building was an accident.. just an everyday plane that accidentally crashed into a building... once the second building hit, most people realized it was NOT at accident and we were under attack.
