I am scared to death of dental procedures due to periodontals disease?

i have to have a deep cleaning but before that my insurance requires dental probing. i have to have it today. im scared to death. i can barely breathe. feel like im going to have a panic attack. what are they going to do to me?which part of the tooth? and will it hurt? should i be numbed.
